The iPad 2 is the second generation of the iPad, a tablet computer designed, developed and marketed by Apple Inc. It serves primarily as a platform for audio-visual media including books, periodicals, movies, music, games and web content, and is available in black or white. The Foxconn China-manufactured iPad 2 has a lithium-ion polymer battery that lasts up to 10 hours, a new dual core Apple A5 processor and VGA front-facing and 720p rear-facing cameras designed for FaceTime video calling.

iPad 2 Features and Specs
As expected iPad 2 is thinner and lighter in design, sports a dual core A5 processor, and has a front facing camera for FaceTime video chat. And yes, a white iPad 2 is very much a reality!

1GHz dual core A5 processor
The CPU is 2 times faster than that of the A4 chip in iPad and the graphics in iPad 2 is up to 9 times faster.
Thinner & Lighter Design
As expected iPad 2 is much thinner and lighter than it’s predecessor. The thickness has been reduced by about 33% from 13.4 mm to 8.8 mm. This is even thinner than your iPhone 4 which is around 9.3 mm in thickness.
The weight too reduces by 15% from 1.5 pounds for the original iPad to 1.3 pounds for the latest one. This is despite addition of some new features such as the FaceTime and the back HD Camera, the Gyroscope etc.
Cameras:
Back Camera – 720p HD video recording, 5x digital zoom, 30 fps
Front Camera/ FaceTime Camera – iPad 2 has a front facing camera in addition to the back one which was present in iPad. The FaceTime camera is VGA with 30 fps (frames per second).

Sensors
Gyroscope – Once again, Gyroscope was one of the rumored featured to be included in iPad 2 and it proved to be true. Now you can play games such as Rage HD which come with Gyroscope support to their full extent on your iPad.
As with iPad, other sensors including Accelerometer and Ambient light sensor are also present in iPad 2.
Connectivity
iPad 2 comes in both WiFi and WiFi + 3G versions.
It also supports Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
Storage
Again there are no surprises here. iPad 2 comes with 16GB, 32GB, and 64 GB internal memory.
Battery Life
iPad 2 offers the same 10 hour battery life for surfing the web on WiFi, watching video, and listening to music as iPad.
Colors
iPad 2 is the first iOS device that comes in both black and white. A white iPhone 4 has long been a source of imagination, but finally Apple has made white iPad 2 a reality.

iPad Smart Cover
Apple has taken iPad accessories serious enough to design an intelligent and smart shield for their latest tablet. Smart Cover as they call it covers the iPad 2 completely without causing any obstruction to your usability.
Available in a range of colors and in both polyurethane and leather designs, the smart cover is a magnetic flap that integrates with the tablet by putting it to sleep when closed and automatically waking it up when opened.
The cover can be transformed into a stand to put your iPad 2 in either vertical position for video chat or in horizontal position for keyboard typing.A polyurethane cover costs you $39 and a leather one around $69.

HDMI Video Output
Now that HDMI video out is becoming a common standard on many Android devices, Apple has finally decided to give it some due attention. iPad 2 lets you have HDMI mirrored video output at 1080p with support for all applications and both landscape and portrait modes.
You need to buy the Apple Digital AV Adapter or Apple VGA Adapter that are sold separately.
iOS 4.3 Firmware
iPad 2 will come equipped with the iOS 4.3 firmware, which will be available for download for other devices as well starting March 11.
